OKLAHOMA CITY — Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation brought its portable Cavity Prevention Clinic to Hilldale Elementary School, providing dental education, assessments and preventive care to students who might not otherwise have access.
A total of 101 second graders received oral health education and brush kits, and 49 students received fluoride varnish, sealants and/or dental assessments. The clinic also connected students with local dentists for follow-up care, providing services valued at $13,328 free of charge.
“Every child deserves access to dental care,” said Terrisa Singleton, director of the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Foundation. “By bringing our Cavity Prevention Clinic directly to schools like Hilldale Elementary, we’re helping to remove barriers and provide vital oral health services to kids in our state who need it the most.”
The program serves schools where at least 70% of students participate in the Federal Free and Reduced Meal program. Dental services are offered to second and sixth-grade students across the state, regardless of income or insurance status and at no charge to the school or families.
