The Magic Dentist, founded by Nicki Rowland in Yorkshire, was named Charity or Community Project of the Year – North at the Private Dentistry Awards, which took place at Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

The charity delivers engaging dental education to primary schools across the UK.

Nicki Rowland, founder of The Magic Dentist, said: “Winning this award is an incredible honour.

“It recognises not just my work, but the passion, heart and teamwork behind everything we do.

“As we continue to grow, more dental practices and schools across the region are joining our mission to give children the knowledge and confidence they need for a lifetime of better oral health.”

Trustee George Western added: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award.

“With national recognition behind us, we’re excited to build our work both here in Yorkshire and across the UK.

“We’re particularly keen to connect with local businesses, schools and dental practices who want to be part of our next chapter.”

Following the award, The Magic Dentist is expanding its Adopt a School programme, which pairs dental practices with primary schools to deliver fun, curriculum-linked oral health sessions.

The first pilot area is currently underway in Somerset in partnership with Taunton’s MP Gideon Amos.

He said: “Children’s dentistry is in crisis – my survey earlier this year showed that only 36% of children have access to an NHS dentist.

“Therefore, education and prevention must be a priority.

“The Magic Dentist will be instrumental in achieving this across Taunton and Wellington and the rest of the country.”

The charity plans to expand the programme nationwide through partnerships with MPs.

Ms Rowland said she will write to MPs across Yorkshire to encourage their support.
