CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — One local dentist office is taking in the “treats” from trick or treating for cash, and it isn’t only to help you prevent cavities.
Wilson Martino Dental’s 18th annual candy buyback event is back at all of its locations from Nov. 4-7. Those who donate will receive a dollar for each pound they give, and all the collected candy will be sent to our troops overseas.
In addition to sending candy, Wilson Martino gives donors toothbrushes and offers patriotic coloring sheets and supplies for a letter to accompany the candy.

Robin McCauley, front desk hygiene assistant, told 12 News about the popularity of the event and how kids respond to sending off their candy.
“We have in the past collected anywhere between 700 to 1000 pounds of candy overall with all the Wilson Martinos. There’s no tantrums, there’s no issues, and the mom says, ‘you know we picked out a few things, they picked out a few of their favorite’ but then knowing that they’re going to send it to a guy or girl in that may not have that,” McCauley said.
Martino Dental partners with local armories to send the candy overseas.
Wilson Martino Dental is also hosting a coat drive throughout November. Both old and new coats are accepted and will be given to the Salvation Army to be distributed to those in need.
